Jesus’ Approach to Fame and Influence: A Lesson in Humility

In John 6, Jesus steps away from potential acclaim and power when the crowds try to make Him king. In John 7, His brothers urge Him to show off His miracles in Judea, thinking it would increase His popularity. Yet, Jesus’ response highlights His focus on genuine devotion over public approval. While many chase fame and recognition, Jesus teaches us that true influence comes from heartfelt commitment to God’s will—not from the applause of others.
The Importance of Timing and Alignment with God’s Will
Jesus’ actions in John 7 demonstrate the significance of divine timing. In verse 6, He states, "My time has not yet come," emphasizing that He follows God’s timing, not His own agenda. John emphasizes the point of God’s timing again in verse 8 and verse 30. This serves as a powerful reminder for us: we must seek God’s guidance and align our decisions with His perfect timing, even when it doesn’t match our own expectations or desires. Trusting that God knows the best time for everything helps us avoid rushing into situations before we're ready or pursuing goals out of sync with His plan.
